Match Preview

◉ Sitting safely in the middle of the Premier League (PL) table, Crystal Palace will be looking to secure a top-half finish for the first time since 2014/15. An 87th minute own goal was the only thing separating them from all three points in their recent 1-1 draw with Brighton, and they’ve now seen a different PL result in their last six matches compared to the fixture prior (W2, D2, L2).
◉ The ‘Eagles’ can thank Selhurst Park for their league position, securing 17 of their 24 points at home. They lost in their last outing here though, and will now look to avoid back-to-back home PL defeats for the first time under manager Patrick Vieira. With that their aim, a visit from title-chasing Liverpool couldn’t have come at a worse time as Palace have lost their last seven home H2Hs, including last season's 7-0 drubbing in this fixture - the only time Palace have conceded seven goals in a home match in their 116-year history.
◉ Liverpool got back to winning ways in the PL with a convincing 3-0 over Brentford last round, as they claimed back the title of the league’s highest scorers going into the weekend. Confidence will be high in the Liverpool dressing room after cruising into the final of the EFL Cup in midweek, as they aim to prevent rampant leaders Manchester City from drifting off further into the sunset.
◉ After winning four of their first five road games to start the season (D1), the ‘Reds’ have now only won two of their last six on their travels (D2, L2). However they’ve really had Palace’s number these last few seasons, winning four straight PL contests ‘to nil’, leading at half-time each time, and scoring a combined 16 goals!
◉ Players to watch: Palace’s Conor Gallagher has scored six of his seven PL goals this season after half-time, while Liverpool’s Diogo Jota has netted his club's opener in 12 of his last 16 goalscoring appearances.
◉ Hot stat: No PL side has scored more goals than Liverpool (12), or conceded more than Palace (10), between the 31st minute and half-time prior to the weekend.

Crystal Palace starting lineup:
Butland; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Schlupp, Hughes, Gallagher; Olise, Edouard, Eze

Liverpool starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold; Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Jota, Firmino, Minamino

Prediction

Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool
The travelling fans cannot expect to witness their side storm to another seven-goal romping at Selhurst Park, and Palace need no lessons in finding the back of the net in front of the home faithful.

However, Liverpool have now proved that their goalscoring touch without Salah and Mane remains well and truly alive, so we are backing the Reds to prevail with minimal difficulty.
