◉ A place in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals potentially awaits tournament debutants Gambia, who continue to surprise the continent, with a Round of 16 victory over Guinea seeing them defy underdog status yet again. In turn, Gambia remain unbeaten in the tournament so far (W3, D1) and their rock-solid defence is yet to concede from open play.

◉ That defence has given them a platform to secure their last five wins by a single goal. However, they haven’t scored more than once in any of their last six competitive internationals (W4, D1, L1), and two H2H losses ‘to nil’ before this clash may put Gambia on the psychological back foot.

◉ Cameroon’s victory over Comoros (2-1) was undoubtedly overshadowed by the tragic events outside the Stade d'Olembé.
